Alamo Australia Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2012

Payment
An initial, non-refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard (transaction fee of 1.75% applies).

The balance will be secured directly by the supplier on arrival.

Additional Driver Policy
Additional driver fee is 5.00 AUD per day plus GST to a maximum of 5 days (25.00 AUD plus GST). A maximum of four (4) additional drivers are permitted.

Age Requirements
The minimum rental age is:
21 Years for car groups IDAR, CDAR, SDAR, ECMR, IFDR/IFAR.
25 Years for car groups PDAR, FDAR, CXMD, IXAR, LDAR, PFAR, FWAR, PVAR, IVAR, FFAR.
There is no maximum rental age.
A charge of 27.50 AUD per day plus GST applies to drivers aged 21-24 years – there is no maximum charge.

Condition of Vehicle
Vehicle must be returned, normal wear & tear expected, in the same condition as when rented. If special cleaning is required a separate charge will be made directly to the customer

Cross Border Policy
Parts of Australia are not suitable for access by rental vehicles. To prevent damage to the Vehicle and for the customers own personal safety, we strictly apply conditions that restrict the use of the Vehicle as follows:
1) Unless given prior written consent, the vehicle must never be taken:
a. on any Unsealed Road unless Unsealed Road Cover - 4WD or ALWD has been purchased (see Insurances & Waivers section).
b. above the Snow Line unless Snow Cover has been purchased.

2) Even if Unsealed Road Cover - 4WD or ALWD has been purchased the vehicle must never be taken:
a. Off Road (including on Beeches or through Streams, dams, rivers or flood waters).
b. onto any island that is off mainland Australia or Tasmania.
c. on flood prone roads or any road where the police or any government or statutory authority has issued a flood warning, caution or which has been closed.
d. onto any road where we have notified you that the use of the Vehicle is prohibited.
e. in Queensland: i. north of Chillagoe or Georgetown. ii. north of Cooktown or Laura. iii. on the Burke Development Road. iv. north of Maggieville. v. on Unsealed roads north and west of Mt Isa. vi. on the Bloomfield track. vii. on the Savannah Way.
f. in Western Australia: i. on the Gibb River Road, Lennard River Gorge Road, Kalumburu Road. ii. on the Cape Leveque Road and to Windjana Gorge. iii. on the Cardabia Ningaloo Road. iv. on the Tanami Track. V. On the Canning Stock Route
g. in the Northern Territory: i. on the road from Jim Jim Falls to Twin Falls. ii. on the Larapinta and Namitjira Drives, commonly known as the “Mereenie Loop”. iii. on the Tanami Track.  iv. On tracks to Lost City (Litchfield NP).
h. in Southern Australia: i. On the Strzelecki Track.  ii. On the Oodnadatta Track.
i. The Simpson Desert
j. On the Gunbarrel Highway
k. Cape York
l. On the Warburton Route, 
m. No vehicles are permitted on Fraser Island.

Cars are allowed to travel on ferries in Australia but they are not covered by insurance whilst on the ferry.

License Requirements
Customers must present a full valid driving license which has been held for a minimum of 3 years.  Driving license can be from any country.
If the license is not in English, an international driver’s license must be presented along with driver’s license from country of origin. Self drive service only.

One Way Rentals
One way rentals are permitted for all car groups and drop charges may apply.
One way rentals to or from Tasmania are not permitted.

International one way rentals are not allowed.

Out of Hours Policy
Out of hours pick ups and drop offs are not allowed.

Payment Policy
All major credit cards are accepted (American Express/Diners Club/Mastercard/Visa). National vouchers and Travellers cheques in AUD are accepted. Debit cards, National charge cards and Eurocheques are not accepted. Cash rentals are not accepted. A deposit (bond) of $385 AUD (including GST) is required which is held on the card until the vehicle is returned. A credit card is always required for deposits.  There is a Credit Card Fee of 1.5% applicable for all cards.

Refueling Policy
Vehicles are supplied full and must be returned the same or a refueling fee will be charged (determined by the location).

Roadside Assistance
In case of breakdown, a phone number is provided when the vehicle is picked up by the renter. Please provide the vehicle registration number, breakdown location and the nature of the problem when calling. Breakdown assistance is available 24 hours a day. In case of an accident, the renter must call the police, obtain a police report and call the reservation center at 1300 13 13 90 who will arrange to transfer to the nearest location for assistance. If necessary, a replacement vehicle will be provided.

Special Equipment
Infant Seats – CSI (suitable for: 0 – 13Kg / 0 – 12 months) – 7.00 AUD + GST per day, with a maximum charge of 70.00 AUD + GST per rental.
Toddler Seats – CST (Suitable for: 9 – 18kg / 1 – 3 years) – 7.00 AUD + GST per day, with a maximum charge of 70.00 AUD + GST per rental.
Booster Seats – BST (suitable for: 15 – 30 kg / 4 – 7 years) – 7.00 AUD + GST per day, with a maximum charge of 70.00 AUD + GST per rental.
GPS are available and cost 9.95 per day AUD plus GST (10.95 AUD per day including GST) – with a maximum charge of 10 days (99.50 AUD plus GST / 109.50 AUD including GST). There is a replacement fee of $330.00 AUD (including GST) if the GPS is not returned.

Government charges and a 3.5% Duty Recovery Fee (Administration Fee) applies – this is calculated on all items except Credit card fees, Airport Fee & GST.

PLS is calculated on all items except Toll Charges & GST.

Tolls: Melbourne Road Toll $12.60 AUD (including GST) for small vehicles and $21.50 AUD (including GST) for heavy commercial vehicles per day (if applicable).
Vehicle Registration Recovery Fee costs $6.55 AUD per day (including GST) – there is no maximum charge. Fee is to partially recover the vehicle registration costs. Unlimited mileage in most locations for all vehicles excluding CXAR, PDAR, FFAR, IVAR & LDAR.

Kilometre restrictions apply to all vehicles in some remote locations. These vehicles only have 200 kilometers per day. Additional kilometers are charged 0.275 AUD per km (including GST), unless contracted product includes unlimited mileage – refer to contracted rate sheet.

Tax
10% (GST = Goods & Services Tax)
Insurances & Waivers:

CDW – Collision Damage Waiver
Collision Damage Waiver (called DLF in AU) is included in the rate.  Theft Protection is included in CDW.  The deductible amount includes GST.

Third Party Liability
Third Party Liability is included at a maximum of up to AUD 20 million.  Unlimited cover subject to legislation applicable to the states and territory if hire.  Required by laws of country and included in all rates.

MVR – Motor Vehicle Reduction
Motor vehicle reduction (called LDW in AU) is optional and lowers the CDW deductible to $385 AUD or $990 AUD (including GST) depending on car group.  Theft Protection is included in MVR.  If MVR is declined, the renter will be responsible for paying the sum of $2,750 AUD (including GST). The daily costs exclude GST.

TPP – Total Protection Plus
Total Protection Plus is a combination of MVR & WHT.  CDW damage is zero on damage of WHT.  With the purchase of TPP, the client is not responsible for damage charges on windscreens, headlights and tires. The daily costs exclude GST.

WHT – Windscreen, Headlights & Tires Cover
Windscreen, Headlights and Tires coverage reduces the deductible for Windscreen, Headlights & Tires to Zero. The daily costs exclude GST.

FPP – Full Protection Pack
Full Protection package is an optional insurance which further reduces the deductible/excess for CDW and on selected vehicles this can be reduced to zero. The daily costs exclude GST.

4WD – Unsealed Road Cover
Means the additional cover that allows some classes of Vehicles (IFDR, IFAR, FFAR and FFMR) to be used on an Unsealed Road provided that the road is gazzeted but it never allows the use of the Vehicle off road. The daily cost of $15 excludes GST and is only available at the counter.

This is not a product that reduces the liability, it just covers you to drive on the Unsealed Gazetted roads.

ALWD – Unsealed Road Cover
Means the additional cover that allows some classes of Vehicles (IFDR, IFAR, FFAR and FFMR) to be used on an Unsealed Road provided that the road is gazzeted and graded as well as maintained by a local, state, territory or government body, authority or council but it never allows the use of the Vehicle off road. The daily cost of $15 excludes GST and is only available at the counter.

This is not a product that reduces the liability, it just covers you to drive on the Unsealed Gazetted roads.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
